Kids who snore loudly on a consistent basis may have a higher chance of developing behavioral problems, according to a new study.

Researchers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center surveyed the mothers of 249 children to get an idea of the type of behavioral patterns the child exuded.

They found those who snored loudly at least twice a week at age two or three had more behavioral problems.

Some of the issues the moms reported their children to have included inattention and hyperactivity.

"The effects we see in older kids who snore a lot also hold in 2- to 3-year-old kids," says researcher Dean Beebe, PhD, according to WebMD.

Researchers say poor sleep quality and trouble breathing could be to blame for the behavior.

The study is published in the journal Pediatrics.
