DETROIT (AP) -- Authorities in Detroit have raided an after-hours drinking and social club of the kind known locally as a "blind pig," citing or arresting more than 160 people.

The Wayne County sheriff's department says the raid happened about 4:30 a.m. Sunday on Detroit's west side.

The department says at least 160 people received citations and several were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Sheriff Benny Napoleon says officers impounded several vehicles and seized about a half dozen hand guns and an assault rifle.

Napoleon says at least six people face felony charges of operating an illegal drinking establishment, while the customers face misdemeanor charges of loitering.

The sheriff says the raid followed complaints about noise and illegal drinking. He says state and Detroit police aided his deputies.
