The baby found in an East Toledo freezer earlier this year has been laid to rest and given a name.

On Tuesday, a public service was held for the infant at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The service and plot were provided through donations from local residents and businesses.

53-year-old Thomas Griesinger, of Delta, donated a spot in his family plot for the baby boy to be buried in.

Flowers for the memorial service were donated by Ken's Flower Shop, the casket was provided by Wick-Wisniewski Funeral Home and burial services were performed free of charge by Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

According to The Toledo Blade, the baby boy has also been given the name Alex Michael Cervantes, selected by his maternal grandmother.

The child's parents, 18-year-old Antonio Cervantes and 20-year-old Kenisha Pruitt, remain behind bars and are charged with baby Alex's murder.

During an autopsy, the Lucas County Coroner found that baby Alex was born alive and was around 2-days-old before he was allegedly strangled, dunked in water and abandoned in the freezer of an East Toledo rental property.

The baby's mother will go on trial on August 6.
