TOLEDO -- A Toledo man has lost nearly everything after what maybe an intentional fire set at the victim's mobile home on Thursday morning.
Fire crews were able to put out the blaze, at the Bel Aire mobile home park off Nebraska, but not before it severely damaged Francisco Ochoa Sr.'s trailer and its contents.
Ochoa's girlfriend, Sue Beegle, claims she was able to make sure Ochoa’s life was not lost in the blaze by rescuing her wheelchair bound partner.
“He thanked God I was there. I don't think if I wasn't there he would have made it,” Beegle said.
Beegle told WNWO that she was startled by a loud bang outside Ochoa’s trailer and quickly realized the mobile home was on fire.
“You could see the flames,” Beegle added.
Authorities are now investigating the fire but believe a mattress, propped up on Ochoa’s trailer, may have set ablaze intentionally.
As officials determine if the fire will be labeled an arson, Ochoa’s neighbors are confident justice will prevail.
“I feel sorry for the person that did this because they are going to get what is coming to them,” Ochoa’s neighbor Henry Baumer said.
In the meantime, Beegle says that Ochoa will be staying at her trailer nearby.
