If working out on an elliptical or treadmill is too traditional for you, try spicing things up with Zumba, which combines Latin and International music.
Wendy Rieff, Toledo YMCA Zumba Instructor, demonstrates the basic steps on Friday’s edition WNWO Today.
"Like all facilities this year, we're at high volume, but what’s nicer about classes like Zumba is there is no equipment so you can almost always get a spot in a class," said Suzi Perlaky, group exercise course leader at Toledo YMCA.
Classes start Jan. 2 and run for 8 weeks. January memberships specials, including a waved joiner's fee and half off the first month, make fitness affordable and New Year's resolutions attainable.
“What sets the YMCA apart is we serve families, with programming for prenatal to seniors," Perlaky said. "We also offer non-traditional fitness programs, called specialty classes, like triathalon and half marathon training for those who want to participate in these events.”
In February, the Toledo YMCA will be devoted to its scholarship campaign, which helps families and individuals in the community who don’t have the financial resources to get a gym membership.
