TOLEDO -- The Salvation Army's call for action during the Red Kettle Campaign was met with a record response.
Thursday, the agency announced the 2011 Red Kettle Campaign raised $607,368.
That's nearly $60,000 more than the $550,000 The Salvation Army had hoped to riase.
The Salvation Army says even though the economy has been down, people continue to lend a helping hand to those in need.
The 2011 amount beat the previous record of $540,000 which was set in 2010.,
