After much debate and a brief legal battle, an historical Ohio courthouse will be torn down Tuesday.

That's when a wrecking crew is scheduled to start demolishing the 125-year-old Seneca County courthouse.

Preservationists had filed a lawsuit with the Ohio Supreme Court hoping to save the building, constructed in 1884, but the state's highest court declined to intervene and the advocates abandoned their effort.

Officials who supported demolishing the building did so while claiming the county does not have enough money to appropriately renovate it.
