The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority is celebrating a recently released "economic impact study".

According to the "The Economic Impacts of the Port of Toledo" study, generated by Martin Associates, the Port of Toledo is responsible for bringing 7,000 jobs to the community and garnering 1 billion dollars of economic activity to the area.

"The results of the Economic Impact Study clearly show the positive impact of our seaport's operations to the northwest Ohio region," Paul Toth, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority said in a press release. "Thousands of people are employed directly or indirectly as a result of Toledo's robust cargo handling operations. This includes not only dock workers, but also jobs with railroad and trucking companies, steamship agents, freight forwarders and many others."

During a press conference on Wednesday, Toth also attributed the success of the Port to the numerous area businesses that work with the port and the $25 million that's been invested into port facilities over the last 18 months.
