LUCAS COUNTY -- Two California men are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Troopers discovered millions of dollars in cocaine during a traffic stop on Thursday morning.

The men were pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike in Maumee and were allegedly caught with 24 kilos of cocaine. The seizure has a street value of  around $2.4 million.

Troopers stopped the pair in a 2006 Volvo XC90, with Washington registration, eastbound on the Turnpike near milepost 59. The driver, 25-year-old Robert Nevarez and passenger, 21-year-old Vicente Quezada Jr. have both been charged with drug abuse and trafficking in drugs.

The charges are both first-degree felonies. The men are also accused of being in possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

The men are being held at the Lucas County Jail and if convicted could spend as much as 20 years behind bars.
