OTTAWA COUNTY -- The Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney says a Grand Jury has indicted a Bowling Green man already being held as a suspect in a murder at a Lake Erie resort island earlier this month.

27-year-old Zachary Brody now faces one count of murder, voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault. He has also been indicted on two counts of intimidating a witness and five counts of tampering with evidence.

In a press release, Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Mark E. Mulligan said "an indictment is merely a formal charge in the Common Pleas Court, and does not denote guilt or innocence."

The body of Brody's alleged victim, 25-year-old Philip Masterson, was in the woods behind the Island Club in Put-in-Bay on September 6. Authorities believe that Brody dragged Masterson's body to that location after killing him during the Labor Day weekend.

Brody is expected to make his initial appearance in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas this week. At least one published report has indicated that Brody and Masterson may have been involved in some type of fight before Masterson's death.

According to the North American Allied Fight Series, Masterson recently fought and won a mixed martial arts fight in Akron.
