Bullies sent one boy from Lakota Local Schools to the hospital during a school bus assault last month, according to an incident report released this week by the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
One of the attackers told other students on the bus that he would give $100 to anyone who hit the victim in the head, the report quoted witnesses as saying. That's when several kids attacked. Some students also aimed for the victim's arm, which was covered by a cast from a recent surgery, the report said.
Witnesses also told deputies that the daughter of the bus driver joined in on the attack, although she denied it in an interview with the sheriff's office. The bus driver acknowledged knowing about the fight and told deputies that a video recording of the incident was pulled and given to the transportation director, the report said.
The sheriff's office has not made the tape available to the public.
Investigators have been in discussions with a juvenile prosecutor about possible charges, the report said.
WNWO tried to reach the Lakota Local Schools superintendent, but our message was not returned.
What do you think should happen to the bullies? Would punishment from the school district be enough or should prosecutors get involved? What would you do if you or your child were being beaten up on the school bus? We want to hear what you think. Sound off below and on our WNWO Facebook fan page.
