TOLEDO -- Taco Bell recently selected its three Toledo restaurants to test its new Doritos Locos Tacos menu item. With the Doritos Taco the shell is actually a Doritos chip shaped like a taco.
Ainsworth Bailey, Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business at the University of Toledo says that because of its diverse population Toledo was a suitable choice to test the new dish. "When companies are test marketing an item they want to choose a city that mirrors the other cities that they eventually want to launch the product in," Dr. Bailey said.
One of the three Taco Bell restaurants in Toledo is on Dorr Street, across from the main campus of the University of Toledo. Fresham Tyler Strauer has already tried out the new Doritos Taco. "It was good, I really liked it, and it reminded me of a Dorito because it left the cheese on my fingers," Mr. Strauer said. Toledo has just been joined by Wichita, Kansas as a test market city.
