TOLEDO -- Meijer and the Luna Pier Fire Department made this a Christmas to remember for a group of twenty children who were selected to receive gift cards as part of the Shop With a Hero program.
On Monday night, firefighters and cub scout leaders escorted the kids around the Meijer store on West Alexis Rd. to pick out items of their choice. Most kids headed straight for the toy section.
Clint Hineeman and his wife were pleased that their two kids were chosen to receive gift cards. "It made me feel good but more importantly it put a smile on the kids faces and even my wife got a kick out of it," Mr. Hineeman said.
