Charges against a Tiffin doctor accused of prescribing medication without a proper license have been dropped.
According to the Advertiser-Tribune, a 30 count indictment against 56-year-old Samuel J. Christian was dismissed by the Seneca County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.
The move buys additional time for the state pharmacy board to work with the prosecutor's office in finding a new doctor to review medical records and serve as an expert in the case. The original expert witness could no longer testify due to an illness, leaving prosecutors with few options for the March 4 trial.
Last July, a Seneca County grand jury handed up the 30 count indictment, which included 24 counts of aggravated drug trafficking, five counts of trafficking in drugs and one count of a Methadone treatment license violation.
