In the wake of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Connecticut last month, schools across the nation are re-evaluating their stances on authorized guns in schools.
One NW Ohio school has approved a resolution that will allow some staff members to have guns on school property.
At a board of education meeting last night, the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools passed a measure "authorizing certain individuals to carry concealed firearms on school premises pursuant to O.R.C. 2923.122".
Ohio Revised Code prohibits any and all guns on school property unless the individual has a concealed carry license and "has written authorization from the board of education or governing body of a school to convey deadly weapons".
According to the documents posted on the district's website, the resolution was not part of the board's agenda going into the meeting.
Who proposed the resolution, and how board members voted, was not readily available.
