OSHP: Snowy roadway played role in crash

PERRYSBURG TWP. -- Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed, Thursday night, that an accident along US-20 (Fremont Pike) and Tracy Road took the life of a woman 9-months pregnant and injured 3 others.

26-year-old Rachel Kominek, of Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene but EMS personnel was able to deliver her baby before the child was Life-flighted to an area hospital.

OHP says the father of the baby, 24-year-old Dustin Kominek of Toledo, was also ejected during the two vehicle crash but did not suffer any life threatening injuries.

Two people in the other vehicle involved, 34-year-old Jillian Sheetz and 33-year-old Melissa Domanowski, were also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say Mr. Kominek was driving eastbound on US-20, his wife was a passenger, when he attempted to turn onto Tracy Road and lost control because of snow on the roadway.

Domanowski's vehicle then collided with the Kominek's 2000 Toyota Solara.

Officials say all those involved, except for Mr. Kominek  were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
